Vic Salazar
News Anchor, CW News At Ten
Vic Salazar joins CW News at Ten as anchor, along with Anne State.
Vic began his journey in journalism with a variety of internships while attending UCLA. Before graduating from UCLA with a degree in Communications, Vic interned at WBZ in Boston, KNBC in Los Angeles and KGTV in America's Finest City. His internship at KGTV led him to a job upon graduation, and within six months, Vic was on the air as a reporter. Vic later worked at KGET in Bakersfield, where he served as weekend anchor for six years. During this time he covered national stories including the crash of a top-secret stealth bomber, the around-the-world trip of Voyager and the fast of UFW founder Cesar Chavez.
Vic's work in journalism has earned him recognition from the San Diego Press Club for excellence in daily news, arts and sports reporting. Additionally he has been awarded two Emmys and a Golden Mike.
Vic can cover a story on anything; he has covered everything from the Academy Awards to the San Diego Zoo.
Vic Salazar's passion for journalism landed him in Port Hueneme for the Alaska Airlines crash, as well as Los Alamos, where he was on the front line of the worst fire in that area's history. He has done great work and is a positive influence in the community. His message to youth: "Do everything you can to go to college, and use internships to check out the career of your choice."
