Perette Godwin
CW Morning Show Anchor, Reporter and Take 5 Host
Born in Los Angeles
County and raised up and down the coast of California, Perette
Godwin feels most at home in San Diego. Since high school, Perette
knew she wanted to be a television broadcaster. Having a passion
for people, she enjoyed the notion of being able to interview and
interact with others, uncovering each person's story.
While pursuing her dreams, Perette earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast News at San Diego State
University. During her time as an undergraduate, Perette took on
exciting internship opportunities. She interned locally at both
radio and television broadcast stations to develop her skills as a
writer. Perette was excited to return home to San Diego's CW where
she enjoyed her most rewarding internship experience.
After graduating from college, Perette fulfilled personal interests
before returning to broadcast news. To give back to the community,
Perette worked as Director of Development for various non-profit
organizations including, the American Heart Association, the
Multiple Sclerosis Society and Center for Community Solutions, a
domestic violence agency.
Following her heart, Perette was named morning anchor/reporter at
KYMA, the NBC affiliate, in Yuma, Arizona. Later, Perette would
anchor the 5:00, and co-anchor the 6:00 and 10:00pm newscasts.
Perette has been honored with eight Arizona Associated Press awards
including, "Best Light Feature," "Best Live Reporting," "Best
Serious Feature" and "Best Newscast." In addition to her morning news duties, Perette
is also the executive producer and host of the CW's first public
affairs show, "Take 5."
Not only has reporting allowed Perette to help others, it has also
opened many doors to travel new terrain. One story required Perette
to go as far as learning how to ride a motorcycle to acquire her
own motorcycle license! In another, she jumped out of an airplane!!
Perette enjoys quilting, listening to jazz, curling up to a good
book, or like the news junkie she is, delving into current events.
She also spends her time volunteering for charity organizations,
including Big Brothers Big Sisters, a head start program and at
various schools as a volunteer reader. Watch her every morning on
the CW Morning Show and every Sunday night on "Take 5".
