JOB TITLE: CREATIVE SERVICES NEWS WRITER PRODUCER/EDITOR
DEPT: CREATIVE SERVICES
REPORTS TO: CREATIVE SERVICES DIRECTOR
ROLE: Acts as writer/producer/editor responsible for promotion of Fox 5 News at Ten and Fox 5 Morning News. Duties include producing accurate, original and effective brand, image, POP, topical and series promos supporting station news programming. Position reports to CSD and coordinates w/ creative services senior producer, news director and news producers.
RESPONSIBILITES
·Conceptualize, write, produce and edit original image promotion in support of Fox 5 news programming based on relevant and unique selling propositions.
·Effectively choose topics from daily rundown then write, produce and edit original daily topical promotion in support of Fox 5 news programs.
·Conceptualize, write, produce and edit original promotion in support of Fox 5 news series, specials or events as required.
·Direct video production in support of news promotion as required. Video shooting skills preferred.
·Direct and work with graphic designers to achieve the visual presentation required in each project.
·Direct and work with station voice talent to achieve the audio presentation required in each project.
·Familiarization with news, news audience and effective news selling techniques.
·Familiarization with station branding, ratings, image and marketing strategies.
·Individual must be able to handle tight details, be attentive to detail, be able to multi-task and have strong computer skills.
·Other station assignments as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
·Requires 3 to 5 years' experience in writing, producing and editing of broadcast television news promotional announcements. College degree preferred. Good news promotion judgement and awareness of current events. Special emphasis placed on strong news image and topical writing, creative and conceptualization skills. Technical proficiency in non-linear editing such as Final Cut Pro, as well as graphical systems and the effective use of graphics in promotion, the use of music/audio effects, and with visual story telling. Strong computer skills required. Videography skills preferred. Knowledge of station programming and the ability to understand and implement promotional and audience development strategies based on research, industry trends etc.
